Derwent Inktense Blocks

By Derwent

These chunky water-soluble ink blocks provide vibrant strokes of ink-like color, bringing a new sense of freedom and color to drawing and painting. When used dry, the blocks provide pure vibrant color, but can also be completely washed out and transformed into a translucent ink-like paint which, when dry, can be worked over. Extremely versatile, these sticks of colour and can be used for a wide range of creative effects and are idea for covering large areas.

Inktense Blocks can be used in the following ways...

  • like pans of watercolour paint: dip a brush in water, then swab the block to mop up colour and apply to colour paper
  • the block itself can be dipped in water and used like a juicy crayon to apply colour directly to paper
  • used dry on wet paper for instant intense bleeding and tie-dye like effects
  • used dry on dry paper and blended with a wet brush after the fact

Inktense blocks can also be used on fabric to create stunning silk paintings or used for other textile projects.
