Brother Machine Warranty
Every Brother machine we sell (printers, all-in-ones, scanners and label makers) is backed by Brother Canada's manufacturer's limited warranty. Here's who to contact, depending on your situation.
Returns: unopened machines
Changed your mind? An unopened Brother machine can be returned to Cowan's within 30 days with proof of purchase. Contact us at orders@cowans.org or visit us at 517 Victoria Street, Nelson.
If your order arrives damaged in shipping or you receive the wrong item, contact us right away and we'll make it right.
Problems with your machine: contact Brother directly
Once a machine has been opened, any problem with it (defects, errors, failures or repairs) is handled directly by Brother Canada under the manufacturer's warranty, even if it happens on day one. Brother's warranty covers repair or replacement, and Brother arranges shipping for valid claims.
How long is the warranty?
Warranty length depends on the type of machine:

To make a warranty claim
- Find your receipt or Cowan's order confirmation, and the model and serial number from the label on the machine.
- Contact Brother Canada (not the store) through their Support Centre (FAQs, live chat and service options) or their Customer Support page.
- Brother will troubleshoot with you and arrange repair or replacement if your machine is covered.
Tip: register your machine
Register your machine with Brother as soon as you set it up at brother.ca/product-registration. Brother Care Program members who register an eligible printer through the Brother Mobile Connect app or desktop software can get a free 6-month warranty extension.
