The Bullet Journal is a customizable and forgiving organization system. It can be your to-do list, sketchbook, notebook, and diary, but most likely, it will be all of the above. It will teach you to do more with less.

Starting a bullet journal can be intimidating- the images you see on social media are all of gorgeous, artistic books with beautiful hand lettering. But you don't need to be overwhelmed; your bullet journal can be as simple or as complex as you like. The supplies listed here are some that will help you start your organization revolution without the supply anxiety.

Notebook Options

When it comes to the actual journal, it's down to personal preference and Cowan's offers many options. A popular choice is the Moleskine which comes in lined, blank and dotted page options. The original bullet journal involves the dotted page notebook which helps with straight lines both horizontally and vertically, the most popular options here are the Moleskine Dot noteook or the Cottonwood Dot Matrix notebook. Both options come with a built-in pocket at the back for holding photos, loose paper or whatever else you might need. The Cottonwood book also has a cloth spine which helps it to lay flat, and an elastic pen loop so that your favourite pen and journal never get separated.

Pens

For bullet journaling, a good felt-tip pen is going to be your best friend. The smooth flow and slightly thicker lines will make making your bullet journal beautiful, effortless. At Cowan's we offer many different fine tip felts- some favourites are the Artline204s or any of the Micron pens. We also sell the Stabilo fine point marker sets that come in packs of ten or twenty with many colours to beautify your layouts.  Another great choice is the Sharpie Pen, check out our review of it here.

If you aren't a fan of felt-tip pens, we offer many ballpoint pens in varying widths. A bestseller is the Pilot G-TEC-C4 which is one of our finest tipped pens at 0.4 mm.

For markers, many bullet journalers enjoy brush tips. At Cowan's we sell sets of Tombow dual brush pens in varying colours- these particular pens are very popular in the bullet journal world because they have both a thin and thicker end with works well for lettering and decorating in your book. We also sell the Brushables markers individually which have different coloured ends but a similar brush tip.
