You've probably seen them, those beautiful hand crated Ukrainian/Russian Easter eggs. These gorgeous and complicated creations are a time honored tradition that takes hot wax, dye and eggs and makes art. We're not going to be doing those here. Because while beautiful it is also quite labor intensive so for all of us who may not have the patience, special tools or just the manual dexterity here is a much less complicated but fun alternative egg decorating project.
Materials:
Paper pulp eggs (no mess, no broken pieces, no egg covered children)
Gesso- Black (or really whatever colour you want)
Paint markers
Step1:
Paint egg with gesso. Do one side let dry then flip and do other side. Don't worry it dries very fast
Step 2:
Get paint markers and draw out you design. If your going for a classic look you can get get a plethora of reference images from online. Start with a white maker and lay down some geometric deigns the add other details with whatever colour marker that tickles your fancy.
Boom, done. Had fun wanna do it next year? Re-gesso over the old eggs and add a brand new layer of markers next year.
Want some other ideas? Go totally non-traditional. Make a night sky with acrylic paint and some powdered metallic pigment.
Give it a Cuthlu twist.
Dragon egg. Where my D&D nerds at?
